Palm Launches Corporate Email Initiative for Microsoft Exchange Users

Program Capitalizes on Treo 650 Smartphone's Out-of-box Support for Microsoft Exchange Server ActiveSync

HONG KONG, July 25, 2005 -- Palm, Inc. (Nasdaq: PALM) today unveiled a program aimed at driving the use of wireless email and calendaring amongst companies in Hong Kong via the Treo™ 650 smartphone and its out-of-box support for Microsoft Exchange Server ActiveSync®. The initiative is focused on more than 600,000* business email users in Hong Kong, of which more than 54 percent* are already on Microsoft Exchange.

The Treo 650 Corporate Adoption Program will provide existing Microsoft Exchange 2003 customers a range of attractive Treo 650 handset offers and discounts, which are also applicable to new or upgrade customers of Microsoft Exchange Server 2003. Furthermore, the program provides for free Treo 650 smartphone trials to companies that want to test and deploy the Treo 650 smartphone with their Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 implementation.

"Email is the critical application needed by mobile workers who want to remain connected while away from the office," said Paul Blinkhorn, vice president for Palm Asia Pacific. "The Treo 650 is the definitive business productivity device that not only combines mobile phone, web browser, messaging, word processing and organizer functions in a single device, but also allows mobile professionals to sync their Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 emails and schedules while on the go."1

"Over-the-air synchronization with ActiveSync over-the-air enabled devices helps users keep up to date automatically. This includes remote access to email messages, calendar, and contacts list. It's now easy to gain mobile access to all your Exchange Server data even when on the move," said Ken Lam, Exchange Sever product marketing manager, Microsoft Hong Kong Ltd.

VersaMail® from Palm on the Treo 650 provides a simple but powerful wireless email application,2 and includes support for Microsoft Exchange Server ActiveSync®, which provides a secure, cost-effective, out-of-the-box solution for direct synchronization of Outlook email and calendar data with Exchange Server 2003. Substantial infrastructure costs associated with deploying, supporting and maintaining a third-party email server are eliminated.

Leading integrated IT services and solutions provider Jardine OneSolution (JOS) will provide support for this program, with an end-to-end email solution using the Treo 650, first-level customer support, professional planning and installation services.

"We are glad to be able to work with Palm and Microsoft in this joint marketing initiative," said Peter Yeung, Managing Director, Hong Kong Operations of Jardine OneSolution (HK) Ltd. "The Treo 650 smartphone, together with Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, is one of the most compelling mobile data and enterprise productivity solutions today."
